Absolutely loved this place great brunch options my whole table got different items so we were able to taste multiple menu options sorry thought about pics after we had dug into this delicious food...servers were so nice line was long when we got in but wait time was not crazy...food was definitely worth the wait chicken was crispy grits were delicious and the waffle with the homemade syrup was chefs kiss! Definitely would be back & again don't judge the pics lol just know we ate good
Yo’ Mama’s is a fantastic gluten free option in Birmingham! Their options were delicious, we tried their chicken and waffles which were spectacular. We also had their lemon tilapia and strawberry cake which was divine! She told me I was kick myself for not getting two cake slices between my mom and I and she was completely right. Best cake I’ve ever had, tastes like the real deal!
This is such a vibe. We had the French toast, wings & waffles and the seafood omelet… everything was delicious. They had a homemade “syrup”… wasn’t that great (it’s butter based). They also had “cool Santa” that you took pictures with that was fun.
Great place to have a generous portioned meal. Our family had 5 different dishes and not one disappointed. The sweet tea was the best Ive had in a very long time, definitely a must have when you visit. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful experience at Yo Mama’s, thanks to Kyah! She took her time explaining the menu, made great recommendations, and ensured we felt welcomed and taken care of throughout our visit. Our food was brought out promptly, and everything was absolutely delicious. The catfish and grits were a 10/10 — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Kyah’s excellent customer service truly made our dining experience exceptional. We will definitely be back!
Gluten free score in Alabama! From the first bite, I knew this gluten-free brunch spot was something extraordinary. The chicken and waffles are hands down the best I’ve had anywhere, perfectly crispy, well-seasoned chicken paired with light, fluffy waffles that you’d never guess are gluten free. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate how good it is. On top of the amazing food, the atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and the staff is kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about gluten-free dining. It’s such a relief to enjoy a classic brunch favorite without worrying about cross-contamination. This has quickly become a must-visit brunch destination for me, and I can’t wait to go back.
Delicious food! I have Celiac. Their gluten free chicken tenders and waffles, fried fish plate, and lemon cake bites are delicious. My husband orders their wings and LOVES them. All their lunch and brunch entrees have a gluten free option, and the ones that aren't naturally gf have a regular option (fried chicken, fish, waffles, etc.) Edit: The owner has commented that ALL their fried food is gluten free! I assumed since the menu states fried foods have a gf option that there was a "regular" option as well. I have also updated my review on the FindMeGF app to reflect this information.
My husband and I were on a road trip, and chose Yo’ Mamas because of the solid reviews. The quality of the food was excellent. My husband had the shrimp tacos with rice and beans—and everything was very tasty especially the beans which were a highlight. Still trying to figure out the spicing which was more nuanced than expected. My hot chicken sandwich and fries were also excellent. A very popular place and glad we made it before they closed at 2:30!
The menu had a good variety of options including fish, hamburgers, chicken, and more, though I didn’t notice any salad options available. Parking is primarily street parking in the area, but there is also a public parking deck nearby. I’m unsure what the current cost is for the deck, but it’s worth knowing if you’re visiting during a busier time. I ordered the fish tacos with black beans and chose the cheese grits as my second side. Everything tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. The real star of the meal, though, was the sweet potato cake. It was incredibly moist and delicious. Honestly, I could’ve eaten four of them without shame or hesitation. My colleagues ordered burgers and fries. They both really enjoyed their burgers, but neither cared much for the fries. They had also requested a couple additional items after the food arrived, but those items never made it to the table. The decor is bright and fun, though it didn’t quite seem to match the style of food being served. Just my personal observation. They also have a robot that helps deliver the food alongside the servers, which felt a little unexpected for the casual atmosphere and southern comfort food vibe. They were fairly busy since it was lunchtime on a Friday, but the wait really wasn’t bad at all. Would I go back? Yes. Was it my absolute favorite? No. But there were definitely things I enjoyed, especially that sweet potato cake that nearly made me consider ordering dessert first next time.
The food I ate at this restaurant was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. I got the chicken and waffles. It comes with two syrups and I used the house syrup. I also tried the gluten free red velvet cake and was amazed. Beyond that all the staff was friendly and very quick with service. Our food came promptly and there were people moving around the dining room cleaning it. The bathroom was also clean and sanitary. ***From a non disabled person. The restaurant itself was all on one level with wide passages. It would be possible to navigate with a wheelchair. The location of the restaurant could be problematic as there is not specific parking. There is a lot of street parking available however.
